Central Florida is a broad description. There’s the west coast, middle, and east coast. You would think Central Florida just means smack in the middle, but nope! It stretches from one side of the state to the next and embraces everything in between! You may be moving to Central Florida from another state or just another part of the Sunshine State. Either way, you are in for a treat.
If you are moving here from another state, then you will soon come to understand why Florida is called the Sunshine State. That glorious giver of Vitamin D, sun-kissed skin, and warm days shows its face a LOT here and we love every minute of it. We are certain you will embrace it as well. When the sunshine hits your face, you just feel a little happier.
So, what does Central Florida have to offer you? Well, we won’t list EVERYTHING. You should discover some if for yourself. That can be half the fun – finding Florida’s hidden treasures. But, we will happily share with you some of the wonderful things that make up Central Florida.
The west coast is probably most known as the home of Tampa which has multiple professional sports teams. If you enjoy sports, this is a great town for you. You can hit Tampa Bay Rays baseball games, Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games, and the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games. The west coast also has Clearwater which is a great little coastal town with beautiful beaches and warm waters from the gulf. There are also great islands off the west coast that are still part of Florida. You may not have known that Sarasota was once the winter home of Ringling Brothers Circus and hosts the Ringling Museum of Art.
The middle of Central Florida, the center of Central Florida if you will, hosts what Florida may be best known for, other than our beaches, which is the vast amusement park industry. While most people just say that Walt Disney World is in Orlando or Kissimmee, it is actually multiple parks that are technically located in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. People of all ages enjoy the many different attractions offered by the four theme parks and two water parks. You don’t have to have kids to enjoy these attractions, as long as you are a kid at heart! Nearby you will also find Sea World, Discovery Cove and Aquatica in Orlando. Approximately a forty-five-minute drive away in Winter Haven you will find Legoland, which if you have young children or are just a lover of building and Legos, you really must visit. Their creations are impressive!
Perhaps you are looking for a little more relaxed vibe away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities and the entertainment center. Then, the east coast of Central Florida is what you are seeking. With its serene beaches and small coastal towns, the east coast gives you that relaxed feeling that you hope lasts forever. From Port Canaveral with its cruise ships and Cape Canaveral with its space program down to the beach towns with surfing and Sebastian Inlet with its incredible fishing, there isn’t a whole lot that the east coast can’t offer.
