Valentine’s Day is an interesting holiday. While its roots are Christian, even most Christians don’t celebrate it as a religious holiday anymore. Over the centuries it has morphed into a day celebrating love rather than St. Valentine and his ministry to persecuted Christians. There is not much known about him, but archaeological finds support the fact that he did, indeed, exist. It also is generally agreed upon that he was martyred. It seems to be a holiday that some people love, some people hate, and some people have no feelings for one way or the other.
Whether you are making a move for the military, to change jobs or careers, to be closer to family, or to settle down for retirement, we know that moving is a big task. When that move is not local and includes crossing multiple state lines, we understand that the big task just got even bigger. So, where do you start? Your first step should be to call your local movers at Florida Moving Systems. We can explain all the services we offer including packing, moving, and storage. We will do all that we can to work with your budget and make your big task feel at least a little smaller!
We have partnered with the Updater app which is a great tool to use when making your cross-country move. It decreases the task of making tons of phone calls or being online for hours. These are hours you can spend doing other things to expedite your move or simply sitting down with your family to take a break from the business of moving.
The Updater app allows you to do things like get your utilities connected and have your mail forwarded to your new address. It is a one-stop “shop” for what would otherwise require multiple phone calls, websites, and possibly even errands to the locations. What a timesaver!
When making a cross-country move, there are many things to be considered. Although our Updater app can help with a lot, there are some things you will need to do that it can’t help you do. If you have children, you will need to find out what school district your house is in and get them registered for school. You will also need to register your vehicles in your new home state, but this probably cannot be done until you have arrived there. Some states require the vehicle to be present before they will register it or issue a new license plate. Additionally, you will need to obtain a driver’s license for your new state.
You will want to keep some kind of folder containing important documents with you during the move where you have easy access to it, such as in your suitcase. You should have your documents showing the address of the house you are renting or purchasing. This is usually required for school registration. It may also be required when registering your vehicle. You should keep birth certificates and immunization records with you, as well. If you own passports, even though you are not moving out of the country, it is a good idea to have them with you, as most places accept them as a form of identification when they want you to have more than just a driver’s license.
While all of this has to be done by you, the customer, Florida Moving Systems of Melbourne, FL can handle the packing and long-distance moving of all your household goods. Additionally, if you need to store your items for a period of time for any reason, we offer state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled storage facilities in Brevard County. Please give us a call today and let us get you moving!
For those of us who live in Florida year-round, the changing of the colors of leaves is not something we see very much. There are states in the United States that truly experience all four seasons with a clear delineation between said seasons. Our temperatures and weather here in Florida do not have drastic highs and lows, so we do not experience such drastic changes of season. We definitely feel when the weather cools down or warms up, but it doesn’t bring much change to our surrounding foliage as much of our plants and trees here stay green year-round.
With multiple military installments in our state, we thought it would be nice to address an issue that directly affects military families. When making a move, are you required to have the military move you or can you hire an outside moving company? This is a great question, particularly for those of you making your very first military move! The short answer is “yes!” Now, we will explain your options and the benefits of both types of moves.
It may be your spouse, child, sibling, parent, another family member or a close friend. Regardless of who it is, if you have a loved one serving in the military, whether overseas or in another part of the US, the holidays can be an especially difficult time. Although you miss them every day, somehow during the holiday season you miss them even more. Maybe it’s because the holidays are a time of family gatherings and traditions. If it is your spouse, it can be especially difficult to watch the kids opening gifts without mom or dad there to witness it.
